Rise of the Tomb Raider • Kill 10 Enemies by shooting them in the leg • 10G • 50.58% of gamers unlocked this
It’s my son’s birthday today, so timing has been extremely tight on most fronts. Up early for the unwrapping of the presents. A family lunch, and birthday cake with dinner (and a sneaky spot of ‘staying up late’ until 9pm!) meant that I had started looking at get-out-of-a-tight-spot achievements, but I had promised myself that I wouldn’t trigger one until the last minute if-and-when I needed to.
Thankfully, an arms-reach achievement presented itself in Rise of the Tomb Raider.
I didn’t really think about defeating enemies by shots to the leg before, but after working out that it took, at best, two arrows, I realised I only had another three enemies left to kill – so on my second encounter, after a few rope puzzles and some silly, player-caused deaths, I managed to pop it.
I have to say – I’m enjoying the pacing of this Tomb Raider a little better than the first (the reboot). Launching into the game with a skilled Lara, a variety of weapons unlocked from early-game and a good skill-tree of unlockables certainly helps with the pacing, though I think I’ll have a better sense as to the scope of my experience once I’ve finished the game and can reflect on the journey.
And let me be clear: this is a journey.
I have a busy few days coming up so I’ll have to see whether I try for some Windows 10 achievements or if I can stay up for some late night gaming again. I reopened a few of the mobile ported games, but I suspect that the achievements have been turned off for some titles, as they’re still showing 0/0 on the Xbox App versus what they actually say in-game. Oh well, better to be informed than not.
